Dr. Toshio Baba

Toshio Baba received his M. E. degrees in electronic engineering from the University of Electro-Communications, in 1979 and the D. E. degree in electronic engineering from the University of Tokyo in 1990. He joined the Central Research Laboratories, NEC Corporation in 1979. He has been engaged in the research of MOSFETs with very thin gate oxide, MBE growth for compound semiconductors, heterostructure devices, Monte-Carlo device simulation for resonant tunneling devices, surface tunnel transistors for multiple-valued logic, single-electron devices, nano-scale Si devices, and sub-0.1mm CMOS devices including interconnect technologies.

Dr. Baba is now a Senior Manager of nanotechnology group at the Fundamental and Environmental Research Laboratories, and is leading the research area of nanoelectronics, nanobio and nanophotonics. He is a member of the Japan Society of Applied Physics and the IEEE's Electron Devices Society.
