We welcome all visitors to our sessions. If you are a registered Stanford student, you may take this seminar series for university credit.
Requirements for Credit
This 1 unit course is offered only on a Satisfactory/No Credit basis.
To take the Seminar Series for University Credit you must:
Register for the course (EE 402S in Axess). There are no prerequisites. Enrollment is open to graduates and undergraduates in any school or department at Stanford.
Attend at least 8 of the 9 sessions offered. Attendance is credited by means of a sign-up sheet that is passed around at each session. If you miss a session, or you miss signing the attendance sheet, you must watch the session online and submit a brief summary (up to three paragraphs) of the content of that session. Summaries should be submitted to Professor Dasher (rdasher at stanford dot edu) by email within three weeks of the session (text-only, no attachments). Archives of presentations will be available at Stanford Center for Professional Development (SCPD). One absence is allowed during the quarter.
Write a brief end of quarter paper. This paper, about 600 words long, summarizes key points and common themes that arose during the different sessions. Papers are evaluated on their demonstration that the student has synthesized the course content. Make-up summaries may NOT be substituted for the required end of quarter paper, and the end of quarter paper (see B above) may not be substituted for make up summaries. The end of quarter paper is due by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, June 10. (Send a text-only - no attachments - email to Professor Dasher, or hand in a hard copy at Professor Dasher's office in the C.I.S. Building, Room 106.)
Incompletes
Students must request an incomplete by the time of the last class session. Credit will only be awarded once all absences are made up and the end of quarter paper is approved. Please note that Stanford policy now requires incompletes to be made up within one year.
Special
Note to TV Students
SCPD students MUST submit an ATTENDANCE VERIFICATION FORM each week through your site coordinator. This form is sufficient to receive credit for that session. If you do not have such a form or miss sending one in, you must submit a brief summary of the session as outlined above.
