Greg Tarr has over 16 years of experience (8 in Asia) in business development, strategy, sales, marketing and advising: Venture Capital/Private Equity funds/Early stage Technology firms, In addition he has been a successful angel investor and worked in Technology Equity Research,. He is currently VP Asia/Japan for U.S. based Com Equipment firm Kodiak Networks backed by Kleiner Perkins and has led the company's regional efforts in Asia/Japan with Asia's Wireless Operators. Mr Tarr formed CrossPacific Capital (aka Violet), a VC+ Technology startup Advisory). And his clients included many of the leading VC/PE Funds and technology firms in U.S./Asia. Including St Paul Ventures the 5th Largest Tech VC in the U.S.-US$3b (where he has led Asian business development efforts for St Paul and it’s portfolio), CDP Capital Asia (largest Private Equity Group in Canada-US$10b) where he wrote the Greater China/Taiwan investment strategy and generated proprietary deal flow. Mr Tarr has equity stakes in eight Wireless/Broadband firms in Korea/Greater China/U.S. where he has been an advisor with interim Senior management roles including IP Unity, Bitfone, Proquent Systems, Snowshore Networks, Com2us, Infobank, Linktone(Nasdaq Exit March 2004), Intrinsic Technology, Unitech Networks and Asia Online. He serves the advisory boards of 3GSM World Congress-France and 3G World Congress Asia. Prior to CrossPacific Capital, Mr. Tarr was at Deutsche Bank Securities Asia (DMG Technology Group) where he was ranked #4 Asian Technology Investment analyst by Reuters (1998) focusing on Communications Equipment, Semiconductors and Software where he had coverage of Acer, Chartered Semiconductor, Creative Technology, Datacraft Asia and Venture Manufacturing. In addition, Mr. Tarr had operations experience in Sales/Marketing and the management-training program at Toyota’s U.S Headquarters He started his career as a summer intern with MTV when it was in startup mode (1984/1985) in New York City. He has served as a guest lecturer at MBA/Engineering Programs of Stanford,
MIT, Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology and National
University of Singapore. Mr. Tarr earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology/Marketing
from University of Colorado-Boulder and an MBA from Pepperdine University
in Los Angeles. .
