Kees, with Philips Research since 1980, pioneered asynchronous VLSI circuits and design tools, and contributed to their application to pagers, smartcards and automotive controllers. He is an acknowledged expert in the design of low-power circuits and systems. His current research is focused on architectures for mobile and wireless applications, aiming at breakthrough solutions on programmable signal processing for 3G modems and on streaming architectures. He is part-time professor at the Eindhoven University of Technology.
