Differences between U.S. and Japan
- U.S. TLOs are a division of the university; in Japan they are independent (nonprofit) organizations
- U.S. TLOs have access to all IP from university; Japanese TLOs do not have access to much of the IP generated at a university
- U.S. TLOs are the only channel to university IP; Japanese TLOs must market themselves to the professors
