BROADBAND NETWORKS IN ASIA

Online gaming and the demand on bandwidth

by Shinichi Okamoto
Senior Vice President & CTO, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.

The spread of broadband in Asia has continued in spite of the down force of the macro economy, and content publication retains its importance following the recent infrastructure maintenance. Entertainment content that center on online gaming have been expected for a long time, but results have not yet materialized. However, the offer of wider content is about to start in Japan following the breakthrough of an online game in South Korea.

This talk will focus on online gaming and "PlayStationBB", the broadband content service for PlayStation 2, to introduce the recent expansion of broadband content for the entertainment system in Asia, and to discuss how to satisfy the needs of broadband.
