Cross-border partnering in Asia:
Globalization challenges for high-tech industries


Greg Ye, 
President, North American Chinese Semiconductor Association

 

Mr. Ye has over 12 years of management, investment and consulting experience in multiple technology disciplines. He is currently a Group Director of Corporate Strategy and Business Development for Cadence Design Systems, Inc., the world's 9th largest software company and a Fortune 500 company.  He is leading the corporate development efforts in China, working on joint venture, venture investment and M&A transactions.  He also plays an important role in Cadence's corporate strategy development and corporate marketing effort. Prior to Cadence, he worked for Cisco Systems as a market development manager focusing on 3G mobile communication and wireless LAN technology, and PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he spent six years advising high-tech. and financial services companies based in the U.S. and Asia on a wide array of business and financial strategy issues, ranging from venture financing, IPO, mergers and acquisition, business reorganization to global expansion.

Mr. Ye co-founded a Silicon Valley based incubator for high-tech. companies in China in 1999, and served as its VP of Finance and Strategic Development till 2001.  He is currently managing a $3 mm angel investment fund focusing on early stage technology companies targeting the China market.  He also serves as an advisor for several other high-tech. start-up companies in the U.S.  In his 12 years of business career, he has developed extensive contacts in the high-tech., venture capital and other business communities in both the U.S. and China.

Mr. Ye received his MBA from Harvard Business School, his Master of Accountancy degree from Missouri State University and BSEE from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Management Accountant. 

Mr. Ye is currently the President of North America Chinese Semiconductor Association, one of the most reputable professional organizations in the Silicon Valley.  He was retained as an Overseas High-tech Industry Development Expert Advisor to the Ministry of Science and Technology in May 2002, and has been an investment advisor to the Municipal Government of Jiangmen, Guangdong since 1999.
