Bio:
Dr. Sean S. H. Wang, President of the International offices of the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI)—a major research institution in Taiwan that has been instrumental in developing many new technologies and improving current industries.  ITRI has contributed to many industrial areas including semiconductors, optics, automotive, machinery, textiles, among others.  Before joining ITRI at the Director General level in 2004, Dr. Wang was with SRI International / SRI Consulting for about 15 years.  At SRI, he developed and implemented international projects on technology evaluation, feasibility studies, strategic planning, identification of new business opportunities, licensing strategy, buy-or-build issues, and new plant investment decisions.  Dr. Wang received an M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at West Virginia University.


Dr. Tomoya Yamashiki

Toray Industries (America) Ltd.


Bio:
Dr. Tomoya Yamashiki, Director of Corporate Research and Business Development at Toray Industries (America), is currently tasked with establishing a new framework to enhance North American innovation for Toray's Industries (parent company in Japan, a major supplier of advanced materials and components.  Dr. Yamashiki's past activities include development single-crystalline organic nonlinear optical devices, phase-change optical rewritable disks, and photo-sensitive ceramic materials for electronics applications.  Along with research, planning, and management positions at Toray Industries, he has been assigned as a research team leader in a major project at RIKEN (Institute for Physical and Chemical Sciences).  He received his bachelors and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Tokyo. Dr. Yamashiki is also currently a visiting scholar at the US-Asia Technology Management Center, Stanford University.
