Kazutaka Terashima

Professor, Materials Science and Technology

Shonan Institute of Technology, Kanagawa, Japan

Kazutaka Terashima is Professor in Materials Science in Shonan Institue of Technology. Professor Terashima graduated from Keio University (engineering) in 1975 and received the Doctor of Science from Tohoku University in 1985.

He joined Toshiba's Electron Device Laboratory in 1975, where he conducted research into growth of InSb crystals. At Toshiba, he has also worked on GaAs crystal growth and stoichiometry, ZnSe crystal growth and point defects, and on chemical reactions in LEC technique. In 1990 he became Scientific Manager for the Kimura "Metamelt" ERATO Project on melt properties of Si materials, sponsored by what is now the Japan Science and Technology Corporation (JST).

In February 1995 he became Professor of Shonan Institute of Technology and his research interest covers melt properties of Si, growth of BP and GaN on Si, and growth of CaF2. Apart from growing semiconductor materials, his hobbies include growing flowers, golfing and fishing.
