Dr. Yoshitaka Yoneyama heads up the corporate venture capital arm of Astellas Pharma Inc. since Jan. 2003.
Prior to that, he was Director, Research Coordination Dept., Institute for Drug Discovery Research,
Yamanouchi Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd. His background is biology/biochemist and he has a Ph.D. degree in biology from Illinois
Institute of Technology. He had postdoctoral fellowship experience at Washington University in St. Louis and University of Texas in
Houston. He was a scientist at Oncogen in Seattle before he joined Yamanouchi in 1989. During his career
in Yamanouchi, he has had a broad experience in business development and managing research alliances with overseas
academia and biotech ventures in U.S. and Europe , such as Tularik, Structural BioInformatics, Metabolex, LICR, NY University and MGH.
