Join Dr. Jung-Woo Ha, Senior Secretary to the President for AI & Future Planning (Republic of Korea), as he shares how Korea is positioning itself as Asia’s AI hub. Drawing from his leadership in national policy and at NAVER’s AI Lab, Dr. Ha will discuss Korea’s sovereign AI strategy, and efforts to align AI innovation with public trust and global collaboration. Find out more on how Korea is shaping the future of responsible and competitive AI.
Dr. Richard Dasher, Director of the US-Asia Technology Management Center, will serve as moderator.
Open to the public at no charge for in-person or by Zoom attendance. Seminars will take place on most Tuesdays between September 23 – December 2, 2025.

Speakers
Dr. Jung-Woo Ha
Sr. Secretary to the President on AI and Future Planning, The Presidential Office of Rep. of Korea | AI Strategist | Policy Leader
Dr. Ha is a pioneer bridging AI research, industry, and national policy, currently overseeing Korea’s AI and future strategies at the Office of the President (since June 2025). His career spans academia, tech leadership, and governance.
At NAVER (2015–2025), he led the AI Lab and spearheaded HyperCLOVA X, Korea’s flagship large language model, driving global AI innovation. He also co-directed joint AI research centers with KAIST and SNU, advancing hypercreative AI systems.
In policy, he chaired the AI-Data Division of Korea’s Digital Platform Government Committee (2022–2025), shaping public AI infrastructure and governance. His research includes 50+ papers at NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR and projects like the KLUE Benchmark (Korean language understanding) and HyperCLOVA X Safety Framework.
Recognized with the Young Engineer Award (2024), Prime Minister’s Software Contribution Award (2023), and NeurIPS Outstanding Reviewer (2x), he advocates for AI that balances innovation with societal impact.
