Makiko Kawabe, Senior Researcher at Mitsubishi Research Institute, Inc., specializes in elderly care systems in Japan. With over 15 years of experiences, she has extensive knowledge on overall Japanese aged care systems, including care management, care quality and nursing care robots, as well as consulting experience in assisting private companies expanding overseas in the healthcare field.
She has been professionally involved in the research and analysis of the Long-Term Care Insurance System and other related public policies for the elderly in Japan. Her current project aims to establish an integrated community care system in Asian countries where the aging population will rapidly increase in the near future.
She obtained a Master’s degree in International Health from Tokyo Medical and Dental University Graduate Schools in 2006.
Her hobbies include practicing yoga and playing the koto, a traditional Japanese instrument. She recently performed koto at the National Theatre of Japan.
