Startup and Investment Funding Between Hong Kong & the U.S.

Ms. Bess Ho, Mobile Architect & Founding Partner at Archimedes Labs

 

Ms. Bess Ho, Mobile Architect and Founding Partner of Archimedes Labs, discusses trends in startup funding and founding teams at seed and angel stages in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China. One of the world’s leading financial centers, Hong Kong boasts the seventh largest public stock exchange in the world and raised 22 percent of worldwide initial public offering (IPO) capital in 2009.  In 2011, Hong Kong was again ranked second in the World Bank’s “Ease of Doing Business” Index, behind Singapore. (The U.S. was #4.) Investment funding in Hong Kong is slowly evolving to cultivate a new generation of startups in the Post PC era.

Ms. Ho will reveal her research findings on startup investment funding and startup entrepreneurship in the new Hong Kong in the Post PC era. She will share her insights of how US startups, angel and VC investors are tapping into the rich resources of HK talents, market capitals and IPOs.

Ms. Ho is advisor to several start-up companies, including AfterShip, which beat out 60 teams around the world and won the Global Startup Battle Grand prize in the first ever HK Startup Weekend.

Ms. Ho has trained thousands of beginners in mobile design and development, and she often presents in international or national tech conferences such as GSMA Mobile Asia Conference, Android Open, Web2.0 Expo, Where 2.0, and many local groups, as well as serving as technical editor and contributor to technical and entrepreneurship-related books.
