Fear the Known: An Update on Entrepreneurship in Southeast Asia

Dr. Edward Rubesch, Faculty Member of Entrepreneurship in the Business School at Thammasat University

Dr. Edward Rubesch will give an update on what’s happening in the entrepreneurship scene in Southeast Asia with the looming force of the ASEAN integration in the region.

Edward Rubesch combines a mixture of practical and academic entrepreneurial experience.  He has founded four companies in Thailand which he still heads as President.  He is the Director of the IMBA Program, the Center of Sustainable Enterprise, and the Global SocialVenture Competition at the Thammasat Business School.  He also assists the Director of the Technology Licensing Office for Thailand’s National Science and Technology Development Agency.  His goal is to increase the number of innovation-based startups in Thailand.

Ed was originally educated as a mechanical engineer, receiving Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  He received a Master of Management degree from the Sasin Graduate School of Business, a program in Thailand, offered jointly by the Kellogg School of Northwestern University, the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and Chulalongkorn University.  He completed his Ph.D at Thammasat University, with a study of border entrepreneurs in the Greater Mekong Subregion.  He is active in academic research in the areas of entrepreneurship, innovation, and distribution in developing countries.
