The Global Outlook for Social Games: GREE’s View

Mr. Eiji Araki, Senior Vice President of Social Games, GREE International

Join Eiji Araki, SVP of Social Games at GREE International, to learn about GREE, its current global expansion strategy, and what the US market means to GREE. He’ll elaborate on the current state of the social games market, and fundamental differences between the US and Japanese markets. Finally, he’ll speculate on what he sees in the future for social gaming.

GREE is a global mobile social gaming company at the forefront of mobile technology. Started in Japan in 2004, GREE was ranked as Japan’s fastest growing tech company by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Ltd., in 2009 and 2010.

Following its acquisition of OpenFeint in April 2011, its combined user base is over 190 million players and offers over 7,500 game applications for smartphones.

This March, GREE’s San Francisco studio launched their first two titles – Zombie Jombie and Alien Family – which currently are available in the App Store.

Eiji Araki joined GREE in August 2005 during its start-up stage. As VP of Product at GREE, Eiji led the development of PC based social networking services, mobile social networking services, and several social game titles including “Clinoppe” and “Haconiwa” which are the most successful mobile social games in Japan, played by over 10 million users. Currently, he is Senior VP of Social Games at GREE International, GREE’s first subsidiary located in San Francisco, where he oversees the social games studio.
