Opportunity of the Kids’ Entertainment Brand in the New Media Era

Ms. Tiffany Qiang, Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Development, Taomee Holdings

Ms. Tiffany Qiang, Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Development, Taomee Holdings Ltd., discusses how the combination of Internet and mobile devices is influencing children’s entertainment markets. Who is trending to become the next big children’s entertainment company in the new media era? As major players such as Disney and Nickelodeon respond, what are the opportunities for start-up companies in this space?

Founded in October 2007, Taomee Holdings Ltd. (NYSE: TAOM) has rapidly become a branded entertainment company targeting children between the ages of 5 and 15 years. Leveraging multiple media channels (PC, mobile, printed books, animated TV, films and live performances), their vision is to become the top children’s entertainment and media brand company in China. As of 2011, Taomee was ranked as the largest online entertainment community for children in China, as measured by market share and active accounts. Among their products are “Seer” and “Mole’s World” virtual communities.

In her current position since 2010, Ms. Qiang is responsible for exploring early-stage investments of internet and consumer market opportunities in China. Previously, she was VP of Qiming Venture Partners.  She received her BSEE from Tsinghua University in 2001 and her MS in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford in 2005.
