This is an English-language course about modern Japan, which is open to registered Stanford students in all schools and departments. Previous Japan study/experience is not necessary, but “veterans” of Japan are welcome. Especially recommended for students planning to intern in Japan.

Discussions will include Japanese group dynamics in industrial and corporate structures, negotiating styles, decision making, and crisis management as well as strategies for managing intercultural differences.

Alumni of the course have gone on to become successful entrepreneurs, served in the U.S. Foreign Service and are Executives for American Firms in Asia.
