Honda’s Vision for the Future: Next Generation Autos and the Infrastructure for their Successes

Mr. Steven Center, Vice President of Environmental Business, American Honda Motor Company

Mr. Steven Center, Vice President in charge of the Environmental Business Development Office, American Honda Motors Corporation, provides an overview of next generation automobiles, including electric vehicles, natural gas vehicles, fuel cell hybrids, etc., according to major geographic and functional market trends.

The session will also discuss Honda’s approach to encouraging the development of necessary infrastructure to support new “green” vehicle types and improve the environmental impact of the automotive life cycle from manufacturing to recycling and disposal.

While Honda has delivered non-gasoline vehicles for years, including the award-winning “FCX Clarity” fuel cell EV (unveiled in 2007), Mr. Center is the first person to head Honda’s Environmental Business Development Office, which was created in 2011.  Previously, he has served as Honda’s Vice President of Advertising and Public Affairs and also as Chief Marketing Officer.

Immediately following the session, we’ll have a short-networking reception from 5:30 – 6:15PM.  This is the next-to-last session in our series of nine weekly public lectures / seminars on “Green Technologies in Transportation: Recent Developments from Asia.”  Videos of previous sessions can be seen at the SCPD “Free Seminars” website under “Topics in International Technology Management.”

Presented by the US-Asia Technology Management Center in Stanford’s School of Engineering, with additional series support from SunBridge Partners and The Miner Foundation.
