Early Stage Tech Ecosystems in China: Why some U.S. startups have succeeded there while most failed?

Xiao Wang, Ph.D., CEO, InnoSpring

In our next session, Dr. Xiao Wang will provide an overview on InnoSpring.  Founded in 2012, InnoSpring is one of the first US-China technology accelerators for globally minded startups.  It is focused on encouraging startups to expand globally and seize sizeable market opportunities in the US and China. The company’s ecosystem is comprised of mentors, financing, and resources on both sides of the Pacific. InnoSpring is a joint project between Tsinghua University Science Park (TusPark), Shui On Group (Shui On), Northern Light Venture Capital and Silicon Valley Bank (SVB).

Topics of discussion include how globalization is viewed among Chinese startup companies and what are the the trends and challenges for early-stage U.S. startups that are experiencing rapid growth and want to enter early into the China market.  Dr. Wang will also cover the role of partners and accelerators in the globalization process.

Dr. Xiao Wang
is a graduate of Tsinghua University with a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Case Western Reserve School of Medicine.  As InnoSpring’s “Chief Fire Starter,” Dr. Wang combines her deep expertise in the biotech field with a passion for identifying and launching young companies.
