Circular Economy: Upcycling Trash Across India

Ideation 3x (“I3X”) brings innovation to solve severe climate issues and environmental concerns. With a mission to limit global warming to within 2oc, I3X brings together technologies, passionate and skilled people, international investors, and innovation. In this session, panelists Manoj Jain and Tatsuo Kawasaki discuss their investment in a network of waste upcycling sites across India for purposes such as generating alternative diesel fuel for plant operations.
The series begins September 29, 2022 and continues weekly until December 1, 2022. Seminars will be held Thursdays, 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM.

Speakers
Manoj Jain
Executive Chairman, Ideation3X Pte. Ltd.
MJ (” Manoj Jain”) is an investor, researcher, advisor and successful entrepreneur. Based in Singapore, MJ has professional experience and investment interests in India, Europe, China & US.
MJ advises large businesses on strategic issues enabling growth through innovation and investments. MJ’s diverse projects include cross-border M&A, infrastructure investments and strategic diversification. MJ has been intimately involved with China’s Belt & Road Initiative and authored much-appreciated book on the initiative wherein MJ suggested senior government officials innovative approaches to risk management. MJ has advised Chinese enterprises on large infrastructure investments in India and other developing economies.
Previously MJ was the founder and executive chairman of US based leading provider of equity research and quantitative analytics firm with global offices (in New Delhi, Bangalore, London, Dubai, Shanghai, and New York). MJ’s research platform for competitive intelligence and knowledge management won several awards for innovation. MJ’s firm, recognized as one of the best known global knowledge services players, was sold to Standard & Poor’s in 2011. Prior to that MJ was senior strategy consultant at McKinsey working with financial services, health care, and high tech clients in the areas of corporate growth strategy, post merger management, operations effectiveness, reorganization, and e-commerce. MJ also worked as Certified cash manager in Corporate Treasury and Risk Management at JP Morgan.
MJ has a degree in Digital Electronics engineering from India, MBA from University of Illinois, and completed post graduate studies at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Harvard Business School. MJ is also research fellow at the Hunan Research Institute, a member of YPO, and is also director on board of several companies.
Tatsuo Kawasaki
Partner, Unison Capital
Mr. Kawasaki is a Founding Partner and the Representative Director of Unison Capital INC., a Private Equity Fund from Japan which has offices in Singapore and Korea. Unison plans to raise $500M for India’s market mainly from Japanese institutional investors, becoming the first independent Japanese fund to enter India.
Unison is teaming up with the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF), which is affiliated with the Indian government to enable growth opportunities in India. Mr. Kawasaki’s passion for the environment and desire to be a part of India’s growth strategy led him to invest in Ideation 3x and join their board. Mr. Kawasaki has extensive investment experience in consumer, B2B services and other sectors. He previously worked at Goldman Sachs, McKinsey and NextCard, an internet star-up in USA.
He holds a B.A in Economics from Keio University and an M.B.A from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.
