New Approaches to Design in Manufacturing Systems (Hybrid)

Asia-based entrepreneurs Masafumi Asakura, Co-Founder & CEO of Final Aim, Jiaqi “Stephy” Deng, Founder & Product Manager of Adofaer, and Ivo Timóteo, Founder & CEO of Braid Technologies, will discuss their company’s approach to design in manufacturing systems. What problem does their company intend to solve and how is it approaching a solution? How does Asia (including Japan) fit into their company’s past and its plans for the future? What future do they see for the design process and how will it impact the future of manufacturing and supply chains? Join us October 1st to learn more!

Dr. Richard Dasher, Director of the US-Asia Technology Management Center, will moderate.

Our 2024 autumn seminar series on “Topics in International Technology Management | Innovations in Supply Chains and Manufacturing in Asia: Opportunities and Challenges in Realignment” begins September 2024 and continues until December 2024. Seminars will be held Tuesdays, 4:30 PM – 5:50 PM.

Speakers

Masafumi Asakura

Co-Founder & CEO, Final Aim, Inc.

Masafumi Asakura is the former COO of Kabuku, Inc., an AI and Additive manufacturing startup in Japan, which succeeded in being acquired by a company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in Sept 2017. After the startup’s M&A, he co-founded Final Aim, Inc.

Previously, Masafumi lived in Singapore for three years as a Managing Director, and clients were design firms and the manufacturing industry. His first career was at Mizuho Bank, Ltd., and he was in charge of corporate loans for the manufacturing industry. His next career was in Recruit Co., Ltd (formerly Recruit Career). He was in charge of system project management for the Global Planning Department in Singapore, India, and Vietnam.

Jiaqi "Stephy" Deng

Founder & Product Manager, Adofaer

Stephy DengStephy Deng is the founder and CEO of Adofaer, a platform that helps entertainment companies turn concepts into collectible toys. With a background in toy manufacturing, she combines creativity and production expertise to make toy design more accessible. Adofaer is currently working with brands like Real Madrid Football Club and top animation studios in Asia and the Middle East. Stephy’s goal is to democratize toy design and innovate the manufacturing supply chain.

Ivo Timóteo

Founder & CEO, Braid Technologies

Ivo is the founder of Braid, a Tokyo startup focusing on the automation of advanced engineering design by leveraging AI, mathematics, and physics. He has a deep interest in complex dynamic systems that led him from foundational machine learning research to the adventure of establishing and growing a deep tech venture.

Before Braid, he took the unexpected opportunity to act as principal lecturer of AI2 (U. Cambridge) at the age of 25 and accepted the invitation to become the CTO of a self-driving car startup at the age of 29.
