2012 World Alliance Forum

Thursday, May 2, 2024

10:22 pm

Distinguished transportation industry leaders, including Yoshiyuki Kasai, Chairman, Central Japan Railway Company, and Lou Thompson, former railway advisor to The World Bank, along with financial leaders such as George Hara, Chairman, Alliance Forum Foundation, discuss the role of Public Interest Capitalism, long-term investment for socially beneficial corporations.

In the current climate of dissatisfaction with short-term capitalist speculation and market manipulation, this public forum addresses how investment with a long-term vision benefits all stakeholders.  The future of railway and other transportation infrastructure, including Japan Railway’s commitment to invest $4 billion/year for the next 30 years in a long-distance Maglev system, is taken as a key example of this movement.

The 2012 World Alliance Forum is hosted by the Alliance Forum Foundation in cooperation with Stanford’s US-Asia Technology Management Center, with support from the California Chamber of Commerce and other organizations.
