Forum on Global Public Health | Learning from Each Other: Personal Reflections on European Response to the Covid-19 Pandemic

Wednesday, Oct 27, 2021

07:00 pm - 08:00 pm

A conversation with Amb. Gunther Sleeuwagen, Consul General of Belgium in Los Angeles

Presented by Silicon Valley Global Health and Aaroogya International Foundation in cooperation with Amici Lovanienses, US-Asia Technology Management Center, Stanford University, and the Consulate General of Belgium in Los Angeles

In this conversation between Amb. Gunther Sleeuwagen and US-ATMC Director Richard Dasher, we will first review how the Covid-19 pandemic evolved in Europe and give an overview of what measures were taken in response.  We will address the division of responsibilities between local, national, and EU-wide public sector organizations, discuss how healthcare providers reached vulnerable populations, e.g. migrants and guest workers, and also outline roles played by Europe in responding to the crisis in less developed economies worldwide. Then, in a highly interactive Q&A session with meeting participants, we will explore what lessons we can all learn from Covid-19 in Europe, so as to improve worldwide resilience in the future.
