Forum on Global Health – Slum Health: Lessons from a vicious cycle in Brazil

Wednesday, Sep 29, 2021

07:00 pm - 08:00 pm

Presented by Silicon Valley Global Health and Aaroogya International Foundation in cooperation with the US-Asia Technology Management Center, Stanford University

Speaker: Dr. Lee Riley, Professor and Chair, Dept. of Infectious Disease and Vaccinology, UC Berkeley School of Public Health

Moderator: Dr. Richard Dasher, Director, US-Asia Technology Management Center

Dr. Riley discusses findings from his research into health conditions
in Brazilian slums, in which social disparity increases microbial
disparity that leads on to greater social disparity in a vicious
cycle of ever-worsening health disparities.  In the Q&A that follows,
we will also discuss applications of these findings, e.g. to health
management of U.S. homeless populations.
