Abstract:

“Drivers and Uses of Smart Grid”
Whether a nation is concerned about the carbon content of its energy
portfolio, sources of energy supply, or the decline of local
engineering talent, a smart grid has the opportunity to drive needed
future local investment without increases in total capital or
operational costs while also decreasing the emission profile of the
entire energy portfolio. Drivers such as energy and fuel security,
aging of the technical support resources, and electric transportation
are discussed.
