Taichi Takayama, Ph.D.
Dr. Takayama is a Visiting Scholar at the US-Asia Technology Management Center for 2017-18. He serves as a consultant for Mitsubishi Research Institute, Inc. and is a visiting researcher at the University of Tokyo.
He has been consulting the Japanese government on making and revising internal policies and rules in the field of wireless telecommunication, Aerospace, and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV/Drone/UAS). Specifically, he has worked on international standardization activities on a Japanese delegation at international standardization committees, such as International Telecommunication Union-Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Most recently, he consulted private companies about business and R&D strategies in the field of UAV.
As a researcher, he has studied Computer Vision with space satellite, airborne, UAV-acquired images for monitoring forest, and agriculture. He is focusing on Hyperspectral data analysis and published many papers. (https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Taichi_Takayama)
His current interest is to create “disruptive innovation” in Aerospace, IoT, and mobility fields with fusion between Artificial Intelligence and hardware sensors.
Dr. Takayama received his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering from the University of Tokyo. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo in Engineering in the field of computer vision for satellite/airborne imagery.
